Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of the previous year.
Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better service.
He came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.
The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
