PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening trophy on 14 different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a vital equaliser in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
